efsta SSW (Software Solution)

Beta version

The Software Solution (SSW) integration for Italy is currently in beta and subject to changes according to updates to the official Agenzia delle Entrate technical specifications.

Overview

The efsta SSW is entirely integrated into our EFR/efsta Portal. Therefore, interaction is always carried out using our unified Management and EFR APIs.

Compared to the RT solution, using the SSW allows the EFR to be deployed in MultiPOS and even Full Cloud environments, without the need to install any fiscal printer, which would also require the intervention of an authorized technician to be put into service.

Structure and nomenclature

According to the Agenzia delle Entrate specifications, the Software Solution must have two components:

  • PEM (punto di emissione / checkout point) is a module integrated into our EFR that is responsible for generating, signing, and journaling individual fiscal receipts. It also generates the daily Z report, which is sent to the other online component.
  • PEL (punto di elaborazione / processing point) is the backend of our fiscalization solution hosted by efsta, which stores fiscal data and sends aggregated fiscal data to the Agenzia delle Entrate.

note

Interaction between these components and any POS software is always mediated by our EFR, which automatically handles the entire fiscalization process.

PEM registration / "CENSIMENTO"

The EFR registers the PEM component when the system is put into service. This generates a certificate signed by the Agenzia delle Entrate, which is tied to the seller's VAT ID and is used to sign all relevant fiscal data thereafter.

PEL

The PEL module is entirely hosted and controlled by efsta. Fiscal data stored within it can be accessed via the efsta Portal.

Requirements

Although our efsta SSW can produce a signed PDF receipt as output, Italian regulations currently still require sellers to be able to print receipts in case the buyer is unable to receive a digital copy. Therefore, a non-fiscal printer is required at the point of sale.

The SSW also requires secure storage for encryption keys on the machine hosting the EFR (e.g.: TPM chip, smart card, or similar security device).
